Narcos

Narcos is an American crime drama television series that first aired on August 28, 2015, on Netflix. The series was created by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, and directed by Brazilian filmmaker José Padilha. It is a portrayal of drug lord Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel, as well as United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents. The first season consists of 10 episodes. The series was renewed for a second season on September 3, 2015.

The title sequence of Narcos is very effective in my opinion; although it’s to the point and simple. The use of the numbers and information provided next to the cast during the title sequence works well within the product because we know that it’s all about the DEA and how they took information and created a database about these drug lords. Secondly, I would argue that the use of the ‘fake’ drugs at the beginning of the sequence show exactly what this product is about, alongside the use of all the money. Instantly, this gives us the impression of what this drama is going to be about.

I believe we could use a similar format in our title sequence, whereby, we use the database booklet that the police have made on the suspect in order to let the information about the filmmakers and casting roll across the screen.
